Union Cabinet expansion: BJP MP Babul Supriyo says ‘asked to resign’, then adds a correction | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: BJP MP from West Bengal Babul Supriyo, who resigned as junior minister from the PM Modi’s Cabinet on Wednesday ahead of the reshuffle, said he is “sad for himself”.
The BJP MP took to Facebook to announce that he had been “asked to resign”.
However, soon as an afterthought, he edited his post and said “I have resigned from the council of ministers.”
He then went on to add, what appeared a sarcastic comment: “As I had framed it earlier, “Asked to resign” may not be the right way to put it.”
“I am extremely happy that I go today without a spot of corruption on me, having served my constituency with all my might and having enjoyed their cindiendence when Asansol voted me back as their MP once again, with triple the Margin in 2019 again,” he said.
“My bestest of wishes to my colleagues, whose names I can’t spell out but by now everyone is aware, will be sworn in as Hon’ble Ministers from Bengal. I am surely SAD for myself but very HAPPY for them ?? More power to all of them,” he added.
Babul Supriyo had contested the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections from Tollyganj constituency, but had lost to the Trinamool Congress.
